This site started in front of a high school history classroom. (I have been blessed to teach in Christian schools for my entire career. So, to me, it would be tragic to not maximize the opportunity to talk about scripture, especially given the current state of public education). Every day, I would begin my lesson with a 3-5 minute exposition of the Bible. We would look at a  verse, talk about it, and try to find some nugget of truth that we could apply to our lives.

What I soon discovered was that my students were far more engaged during these 5 minutes than they were during my awesome powerpoints about the Cold War or the French Revolution. I’m a historian, not a theologian so I am sure that their engagement had very little to do with my biblical knowledge. I just read them the Bible and we talked about the truth that we found. We argued and we struggled with some of it, but the journey toward truth and faith is a beautiful struggle.

You see, I think we crave truth. I think we are starved for it. I think we are seeking it.  We look everywhere. We try to find it in the opinions of others. We seek it on TV and on the internet.  Everyone in our lives has a version of the truth that they want us to believe or that they want to impose upon us. I also believe that we know truth when we hear it. There is so much in our world that is fake, that we easily identify the authentic. Truth sounds…well…true. It’s easy to spot B.S. and it’s easy to spot opinion. We are seeking truth!

I happen to believe that Jesus is the truth and that by spending a few minutes a day learning from Him, we can change our world.

There is always the danger that the simple mention of Jesus turns people off, but rest assured that this site is not about religion. My goal is to provide short and simple insights that will help you live in the truth of who you are and who God is. This site it is about truth and faith in the God that decided to reveal Himself because He deemed us worthy. I ask you to join in, comment, send me an email, engage in this discussion as we seek truth and faith together.
